Named after the historical shipyards of the coastal lowcountry, Shipyard Plantation is a serene community of tree lined trails, tranquil lagoons and a sandy beach. Nestled in the heart of Hilton Head Island, Shipyard is centrally located and close to all of the island’s attractions. Two entrances (one off of Hwy 278 and one off of Pope Avenue) make it easy to get where you need to go on the island.
Shipyard is a nice mix of full time residents living in both homes and condos, available rental properties and the Crowne Plaza Resort. Renting a villa or a home is a wonderful way to have a restful vacation. Homes line fairways or are beautifully set with in the trees. Villas are family friendly with pools just steps away.
Throughout the plantation are twelve miles of bike paths. They are set off the road and wind in and out of the beautiful tree lines. Riding on these paths give guests the opportunity to experience the spender of this majestic island.
The Shipyard Beach Club is a great place to wash off after a long day of fun in the sun. This facility is for the private use of guests of the plantation.
Activities abound here with the Shipyard Golf Club and Van der Meer Shipyard Tennis Club. The three nine hole courses are world-class and offer golfers a great day of golf with picturesque views of Hilton Head’s natural beauty. For the tennis player, there are over twenty courts available for guests' playing pleasure. There is also a multitude of services offered at both the golf and tennis clubs.
Shipyard also ranks as a favorite spot for winter “snowbirds”. Areas like Beachwalk, Evian, Tennismaster, and The Greens are highly sought after by guests who can stay with us for a month or two. Being close to the beach but yet affordable seems to be part the draw.
